Crochet Abbreviations and Definitions

Helpful Crochet Abbreviations and Definitions

by Cheryl Moreo

Like knitting, crochet has its unique set of crochet abbreviations and definitions. For beginners in crochet, these terms may seem perplexing and overwhelming. Designers often employ abbreviated versions to conserve space. Typically, pattern-specific crochet abbreviations and their meanings are elucidated within the design itself or are provided in a glossary within a pattern book. In cases where the pattern fails to clarify an abbreviation, I’ve compiled a list of crochet abbreviations and their definitions.

Below I have included a list of crochet abbreviations and their definitions. Want a list for your crochet bag?

After the list, there is a link to my free printable resource library. Save or print this abbreviation guide for when you need a quick reference when following along with a crochet pattern. It will help you remember what all the abbreviations mean!
